Professor SidongXiong’s team was entitled the Jiangsu Provincial Innovative Research Team



After universityrecommendation, expert investigation, field evaluationand public announcement, the Talent-recruitment office of Jiangsu Province has announced the 2012 innovative teams. Professor SidongXiong’s teamwas among the list and received a funding of three million RMB.


It is known that creative teamsintroduced by Jiangsu Province should have sustained abilities to solve keytechnical problems and abilities to transform outcomes. They are expected tomainly engage in industrial R&D technology, cutting-edge S&T, treatmentandpreventionof major diseases and so on. In addition, the creative teamsshould have patents at the international level or discoveries with proprietaryintellectual property rights. And it is better tomake breakthrough in key techniques, enhance the industry-level upgrading, leadacademics, and promotesignificantsocial and economic benefits.


Based onthe frontier of international research inimmunology and the demands of the prevention and treatment of majorimmune-related diseases, Professor SidongXiong’s team is focused on threeinterrelated research fields: 1) the characteristics of tumor antigens andmechanism of immune recognition; 2) the pathogenesis and immune therapy ofautoimmune diseases; 3) glycol-immunology and lymphocyte development. Academictalents are the core of creative team construction. To create a world-classlevel of discipline, the most effective strategy is to introduce the top talentfrom the world-class universities. The creative teams plan to introduceinternationally full-time renowned foreign professor 1-2, ‘1000 plan’ winner1-2, excellent winner of National Outstanding Youth Fund and/or speciallyappointed professor of ‘Chang Jiang Scholars Program’ 1-2, and finally build ascientific research team with close cooperation, solid knowledge, full ofpassion and creativity. This will play important roles in school talent cultivation, discipline construction and thedevelopment in scientific research.
